Stage 2 Community Consultation – Draft Masterplan

The Fairmont Group has now prepared a draft Masterplan for the initial stage of the Seaford Heights development and is seeking community comment on the plan.

Seaford Heights is the area bounded by Main South Road to the west, Robinson Road to the north, Victor Harbor Road to the east and Wheaton Road to the south. Once completed, it is expected that the initial stage of Seaford Heights will accommodate approximately 2,500 people.

During 2009 a preliminary consultation process with residents and community groups from Seaford and the surrounding suburbs was undertaken. This process identified some of the desired characteristics for the development at Seaford Heights, this included:

  1. Medical facilities (i.e. general practitioners, dentists and other ancillary health services);
  2. Shopping and banking facilities (i.e. discount supermarket, delis, hardware, bank branches and ATM);
  3. Extension of the rail to Seaford and improved bus transport services;
  4. Community centre / hall / meeting / informal recreation;
  5. Police and ambulance stations;
  6. Entertainment and eateries (i.e. restaurants, cafes, cinema, bowling alley etc.)
  7. Private schools;
  8. Childcare facilities;
  9. Open space facilities and public toilets;
  10. Arterial roads in and out of the Seaford area.

 

The Fairmont Group and their consultants have reviewed this feedback and have prepared a draft Masterplan for the site which includes:
  • a mix of housing types from traditional dwellings to townhouse and mews;
  • a neighbourhood centre with a variety of retail and speciality shops;
  • a commercial precinct fronting Main South Road
  • future provision for community facilities such as a school and medical centre;
  • provision of 12.5% of the site as open space which will include a district park for sporting facilities and informal recreational use.
  • a village square;
  • a carbon managed community
  • provision of recycled water infrastructure
In planning for Seaford Heights, the Fairmont Group is keen to receive community feedback on elements of the draft Masterplan.
